About Joyce
I began my nursing career in 1984 after graduating from St. Louis University with a Bachelor's in the Science of Nursing (BSN) .  I specialized in OB nursing and continued in OB after moving to New York.  After moving to California in 1991, I wanted to do more and attended the University of Southern California in Los Angeles to obtain a Master's in the Science of Nursing (MSN) and became a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) and a nurse practitioner (NP).  I loved midwifery and had a very fulfilling career providing home, hospital, and underwater births. I was on faculty at the University of California, Irvine, and helped train nurse-midwife students, medical students, and residents. I co-authored a book entitled, "Fearless Pregnancy". Overall, I had many exciting and rewarding years helping women and their families.
Still, something compelled me to do more, and after so many years of providing care for the body, I turned to the soul.  I attended one year at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, focusing on counseling psychology with an emphasis on Depth Psychology.  I then realized that with my nursing background I could provide additional help for people and decided to complete a post-master's certification program at California State University, Fresno to become a Family Psychiatric Mental health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).  The advantage to being a PMHNP is that I can provide client's with medication which is extremely helpful for many people.
I embrace a new career providing care for men, women, and adolescents in their journey through life. Although I have a wealth of experience providing care for women, I thoroughly enjoy working with men and adolescents as well.
